Reaction to Lie of the Year; fact-checking the Democratic debate

We published our annual "Lie of the Year" story last week, selecting the campaign misstatements of Donald Trump as the most significant falsehoods of the year. Since then, we’ve heard from readers, both pro and con, about our selection. We also got reaction from Trump himself; read what he told other members of the media about our fact-checking.

We also spent time fact-checking the final Democratic debate of the year. Here are a few of our fact-checks of the left side of the political aisle:

Bernie Sanders said, "We didn&;t go out and take" electronic information from the Hillary Clinton campaign. We rated that Mostly False.
Clinton said that Sanders "voted for regime change with respect to Libya." We rated that Mostly True.

We’ll be here in 2016, continuing checking the facts. Thanks for reading PolitiFact!” height=”53″ width=”53″> Angie Holan
