After drawing a Republican primary challenge from former Palm Beach Shores Mayor John Workman last month, Palm Beach County Commissioner Hal Valeche pumped $100,000 of his own money into his re-election campaign.
Valeche also raised $36,315 from donors in May. He has collected a total of $111,216 from contributors since launching his campaign last year.

Workman filed to challenge Valeche on May 6. He has not yet filed a campaign finance report for May; the deadline to do so is Friday. Valeche’s north-county commission District 1 is the commission’s only Republican-leaning seat, with the GOP enjoying a 41.3-to-29.8 percent registration advantage over Democrats.
