Rubio’s Bill Drains the VA Swamp, Hundreds Fired

President Donald Trump campaigned for president on the promise to go to Washington, D.C. and “drain the swamp.”

In order for the president to effectively “drain the swamp,” he would need to enlist the help of Republican members of the U.S. Congress.

One of those members who has flexed his political muscles since winning re-election to the U.S. Senate was Senator Marco Rubio.

Rubio introduced his Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017 (S.1094), a bill that was firmly aimed at draining the ‘swampsters’ working within the embattled VA.

Rubio’s bill, which passed in the congress and signed by the president, is paying huge dividends for both Republicans, as hundreds of VA employees have already been fired since it was signed into law on June 23, 2017.

Since the law’s inception, some 743 VA employees have been fired, 37 demoted, and and another 260 have been suspended, this according to a White House official who wished to remain anonymous.

According to the latest Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection report dated August 23, 2017, those fired or suspended included physicians, nurses, dieticians, social workers, housekeepers, veteran services reps, and claims examiners, to name a few.
