The threat of Hurricane Matthew postponed an earlier South Florida appearance by President Obama, but he’s scheduled to return next week.

President Barack Obama will campaign in South Florida for Hillary Clinton next Thursday, making up for a rally that was scrubbed by the threat of Hurricane Matthew.

Obama is scheduled to make an official visit to Miami Dade College to give a speech on the Affordable Care Act, then attend a campaign event for Clinton, according to a White House official.

A specific time and place for the campaign event have not been released.

Obama was scheduled to make an Obamacare speech in Tampa on Oct. 5, then travel to Miami Gardens for a Clinton campaign event. But the trip was postponed as forecasts put South Florida in the cone of approaching Hurricane Matthew.

Clinton campaigned in Miami on Tuesday. To win Florida, Democrats traditionally try to run up the score in heavily Democratic Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties to offset Republican strength elsewhere in the state.
